Fish supper

The final meal in Nouachkott for Julian & I was some lotte or monkfish that we bought at the fish market. Arriving back into town we all went shopping for bread, tomatoes, onions and oil and hoped to find a pan somewhere and ask Abdul, the guardien of the auberge if we could borrow his gas bottle to cook it on.

There was a campervan in the courtyard with a couple from Grenoble - who didn't like fish! Having 4kilos of fileted fish between 5 of us was far too much and we had hoped to trade some of our fish to borrow a pan! However, the couple lent us the pan saying that it mustn't smell of fish on it's return, we promised to have it clean! Gianni was up and about but still sore, thrilled to see some fish and helped out with the preparations. Sokol, an avid airline magazine collector, went missing, he returned an hour later with a copy of Air Mauritanie's inflight magazine, chuffed to bits to have found one!!!

We ended up eating about 2kilos of the fish, my stomach still doing somersaults but I hoped that I would be alright. We off-loaded the rest of the fish to Abdul who then had to find a friend with space in his fridge to keep it chilled!
